I purchased this product to replace an aging USB flash drive that I use with my Ubuntu Linux desktop computers. This product arrived sooner than the projected arrival date and worked perfectly in my Ubuntu 9.04 and Ubuntu 9.10 systems. The Kingston DataTraveler was recognized upon plugging it into my computer and I transferred 1.2GB to it without any problems. I recommend this product to anyone needing this type of device.
I have used Kingston product before and have had nothing but good experiences. As a result, we lost a lot of pictures as we were tranferring from one laptop to another. I tried a cheaper flash drive to save some money but it fell apart. A replacement worked better but for some reason it wouldn't save folders correctly. I will stick with Kingston from now on. It is very fast and holds a lot of data.
16 gigabytes, low cost, and convenient design. This is with careful handling and always clicking "Remove drive" before taking it out, by the way. It's too good to be true for a reason. After about 5 months, the drive began to fail. It would spontaneously stop displaying the contents of the folder and not be recognized by Windows, with the only solution being to unplug it and plug it back in. Since I use USB flash-drives to hold important files, I could not keep using this one. It's a shame, because having 16 gigabytes worth of portable space was really useful while it lasted.
I have a portable hard drive to back up all my important stuff, but it's not a good idea to take it anywhere all the time, so I decide to get a usb flash drive with large capacity. This Kingston 8GB flash drive it's the perfect solution to copy large files, like movies, data, music and videos.Good quality for a reasonable price. 100% recommended.
Too bad this one is "chintzy". I have the Kingston DataTraveler in a 1GB and really like it - sturdier, has a cap as a place on the end to easily insert a lanyard.
There is a place on the other end to run a lanyard through but extremely difficult to accomplish. The price is right but the design and function of this thumb drive is extremely poor.
It's not easy to plug this thing into a USB port; the lever sticks and is hard to extend and retract the connector; the connector end retracts when inserting into the USB port; it's not stable; you have to hold onto the lever strongly in order to have it insert properly. The work sleek used to describe this drive is more like "flimsy".
Transfer of files is slow as well. I should have returned it but didn't.
And it's fast. In this case, I got what I paid for.
